An 18th Century French Commode
Reference No: 10282
An elegant and understated French Louis XVI period, faded quarter-sawn and book-matched walnut commode of three drawers, of simple, Neoclassical design. The timbers very nicely burnished over time, and currently left with a dry and 'hungry' finish. Fitted with the original handles and pressed and gilt brass shield-shaped escutcheons, with two of the original handles needing to be reattached. Area of Isle de France, (Greater Paris), circa 1780.
Condition report: In good and un-restored condition. This commode will clean up very well, to reveal an outstanding, glowing walnut colour when waxed and buffed.
Dimensions: 119 x 57 cm, height 88 cm.
