A Classical Marble Statue of Venus
An 18th century French white Carrara marble garden statue in the style of the “Venus Callipyge”, a 1st century BC Classical Roman statue now located in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy. The Venus is depicted looking over her shoulder in an elegant, half-turned pose. Area of Paris, circa 1780.
Condition report: In good and original condition, the surfaces eroded by the elements and with a patina of moss and lichen. Small, repairable damages to the Venus' nose and to one of her fingers.
