A French Romanesque Stone Head

A 19th century French carved sandstone head, a remnant from an old stonemason's studio making carved statues. The original head, of which this is an exact copy, was made during the Middle Ages and is known as the “Senlis Head”. It is thought to have been taken from the Senlis Cathedral during the ravages of the French Revolution. Area of Paris, circa 1860.
