A pair of Normandy Buffets-Vaisselliers
A pair of 19th century French provincial solid oak “Buffet Vaisselliers” dressers from the area of Normandy. The open-top sections with shaped ‘Chapeaux de Gendarme’ pediments, decorated with central, haut-relief carved ‘bouquets’ of flowers, above plate shelves with finely-turned balustrades. The lower sections have two drawers above two panelled doors, each decorated with haut-relief carved with floral and foliate motifs. Internally fitted with shelves. This pair of buffets were originally fitted on either side of a fireplace. Area of Rouen, Normandy, circa 1860.
