A Parisian Mantle Mirror

A fine, 19th century French Napoleon III period, gilt pastille-work Louis XVI style mirror. Surmounted by an out-sized wreath and the Classic “crossed torch and quiver” motif (an allegory for passion and intelligence), and flanked by wreaths and ribbons. The fure gold leaf frame is etched and engraved with stylised flowers in burnished gold, against a satin gold background. Retaining the original mirror plate.
